2nd Shoulder Surgery Congress

The scientific lectures were the highlight of the Second Shoulder Surgery Conference, marked by the presence of specialized attendees. The conference was highly successful, offering valuable medical information from which everyone benefited. A spirit of cooperation was evident among all participants as they exchanged scientific and medical knowledge. The event served as a forum for sharing opinions, ideas, and the latest advancements in shoulder surgery.

Live surgical procedures were also performed and broadcast directly to the audience through cameras from inside the operating rooms.

One of the key elements contributing to the success of the conference was the leadership of Dr. Mustafa Al-Fadhli, along with several distinguished guests, including Dr. Maher Al-Assal, Head of the Orthopedic Department at Assiut Hospital, and Dr. Mustafa Al-Sharif, a Shoulder Surgery Consultant from Canada. Their contributions enriched the conference with high-level scientific lectures. I wish everyone continued success, and God willing, we look forward to meeting again next year at the third conference.

In the same context, the visiting physician from Turkey, Professor Özkan, said:
“I am the Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Izmir University in Turkey, and this is my first visit to Benghazi to attend the events of the Second Shoulder Joint Surgery Conference at Benghazi Medical Center. During the conference, I delivered several lectures and performed a surgical operation on a case that had been suffering from an injury for four years, which had caused joint stiffness, friction, and tendon tears. As part of the workshop held during the conference, a reverse shoulder joint replacement was performed, and thanks to God, the procedure was successful.”

4th Sabratha Knee Surgery Course

The fourth edition of the Knee Joint Surgery training course was launched at the Tellil complex, under supervision of Sabratha Teaching Hospital. The two-day course began in the morning with welcoming remarks addressed to the doctors who arrived from various Libyan cities, representing the specialties of orthopedics and joint replacement.

The training program, in both its practical and theoretical components, included lectures and visual presentations delivered by consultants and physicians. Several surgical procedures performed in public and private hospitals across Libya, within orthopedic departments, The event also featured the opening of an exhibition by several pharmaceutical companies presenting a range of newly manufactured medical equipment and drugs from various European and Asian countries.

Fifth Annual Course of Basic Principles of Fracture Management

The fifth Basic Fracture Fixation Training Course kicked off on Saturday morning, May 25, 2024, at Benina Hall in the Benghazi Medical Center, with the participation of a distinguished group of specialists from cities across Libya, as well as visiting orthopedic consultant from the United Kingdom, Dr. Khaled Aneyba.

The course targets new doctors enrolled in the Libyan Medical Specialties Board from various cities, including Benghazi, Marj, Ajdabiya, Al-Bayda, Tobruk, Derna, and Sirte.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Fadhli, Consultant and Head of the Department of Orthopedic and Joint Surgery at Benghazi Medical Center, explained that the fifth edition of the Basic Fracture Fixation Course includes interactive lectures, discussion panels, and hands-on practical sessions.“Professors from different Libyan cities are participating in this year’s program,” he noted.

He added that the course is designed for orthopedic residents in the Medical Specialties Board, with the aim of enhancing their skills in managing various types of fractures using both conservative and surgical approaches.

“This course is highly significant, featuring workshops, debates, and interactive lectures. It is held annually—last year in Tripoli, and this year here in Benghazi. Around 45 doctors from across Libya are participating. I wish them all success.”In the same context, Dr. Khaled Aneyba, an orthopedic and spine consultant currently based in the UAE and a graduate of the Arab Medical University in Benghazi (Class of 1995), said he was invited by the Medical Specialties Board and Professor Mustafa Al-Fadhli to take part in the course.“This fifth edition is crucial for doctors at the early stages of their training, covering fundamental principles of fracture fixation, patient care, and trauma management,” he said.

Dr. Aneyba highlighted that the two-day course includes lectures and workshops delivered both theoretically and practically in accordance with internationally recognized standards.He added, “This gathering of orthopedic professors from different Libyan cities offers an important opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in the field of fractures and orthopedics.”

He concluded by expressing his appreciation to the Benghazi Medical Center administration:“My thanks go to the center’s management. This level of commitment is not new to them. As a frequent visitor, I am well aware of their aspirations and their dedication to advancing the healthcare sector, particularly in medical training.”
